I shot a deer this morning, how soon do I have to get him to you?

Generally speaking you have one or two days, remembering to keep it in a cool place and out of direct sunlight. Clean and butcher as soon as possible if you are going to need more then a few days, weather permitting.

It's Monday, I cannot get there until this weekend. How do I care for the deer in the meantime?

You should always keep the trophy as cool as possible. Use a cooler or refridgerator if you have access to one. On heavey wooled or haired game open the flesh side out,as to let the body heat out quicker.Last, try not to get excessive blood on the cape expecially the facial area. Remember, how you care for your trophy now directly effects your finished mount.

How long will my trophy last in the freezer?

Depending on how well you wrap it will reflect how long it stays in good shape without getting freezer burned. The best advise I can give you is to get the trophy to me as soon as possible to insure a quality mount, if this is not possible I suggest double bagging your trophy and removing all excess air from the bags. Tape and label the package, indicating date taken and your name. You can safely expect 4-6 months.

My grandfather shot a deer 50 years ago,can it be repaired?

Not really, most of the time the older mounts are too far gone. However, I often recape deer and other big game heads. By using the cape of another animal I can make your grandfathers deer,or any animal for that matter look as if it were taken this past hunting season. Mounts are often handed down through the generations, this is a great way to keep them looking new and fresh.

I found an Owl on the road this morning can it be mounted?

Sorry, Federal law as well as New York state law forbids the possession of any birds of prey the same applies to song birds

I booked a hunt out of state, how do I transport my trophy home?

You can bring it home with you whether you are driving or flying. In this case skinning and freezing is best,as long as it will not have time to thaw. If longer time is needed you or the outfitter must completely skin the animal removing all tail bones, skull, turning ears and splitting the lips. Then salt the entire skin, salt and drain, twice. The skin is now ready to be dried it can at this point be put in a bag or box and be transported home without freezing.(Most reputable outfitters are accustomed to this method) Please contact me prior to your trip and I can go over it with you in detail.

You can also ship your trophy directly to my studio from your hunting area.Contact me prior to your trip for shipping tags and instructions.
